KS1 Teacher

 The British International School Istanbul, is seeking to appoint a KS1 Teacher for August 2024.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified teacher with experience and expertise to plan, develop and deliver rigorous learning experiences that address learners with a variety of language and learning needs. There will be follow up with regular assessment and analysis to ensure ongoing and consistent progress. 
The school follows the UK National Curriculum and uses Cambridge Curriculum.
 
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

  • Responsible for the planning, assessing and reflective cycle in delivering high quality lessons and learning experiences for the students
  • Be up to date on research-based strategies to address the needs of diverse learners 
  • Create learning situations where skills, content and tasks are relevant, realistic and authentic 
  • Promote active learning in line with the constructivist approach to learning
  • Use ICT to enhance learning to support collaboration, content creation and communication 
  • Use inclusive strategies so that all learners can access the curriculum and make progress 
  • Support learners to set their own goals and objectives 
  • Promote self-regulation and independent learning 
  • Demonstrate a high level of relevant curriculum knowledge 
  • Contribute to the whole school curriculum and monitoring processes. Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum delivery Assessment and Record Keeping 
  • Assess learners as required by the school and plan according to the analysis of those results in a proactive and timely manner
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents and other stakeholders as required
  • Take an active part in professional development 
  • Actively engage in the Performance Management schedule
  • Display a passion for teaching and learning by sharing ideas and taking calculated risks to innovate 
  • Seek feedback from others to improve learning and teaching strategies 
  • Promote positive relationships with all families through regular communication

 Establishing a Culture for Learning and Wellbeing

  • Promote student voice in the classroom 
  • Develop and maintain a learning focussed classroom 
  • Implement ‘restorative practice’ strategies to encourage positive relationships with all paying attention to the school policies such as the Behaviour Policy
  • Be involved in Extra Curricular Activities to enhance the school experience for learners including residential trips (if applicable)
  • Support learners to be successful 
  • Engage and collaborate positively with all members of the school community including all staff members
  • Model the skills and attitudes of a global citizen, through presentation, personal and professional conduct 

 Be an ambassador for the British International School

  • Take part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Days 
  • Understand that the role of the classroom teacher is as mentor to the students
  • Operate within the stated policies and practices of the school 
  • Share in whole school initiatives in a respectful, courteous and proactive manner
  • Cooperative to ensure effective use of resources to the benefit of the school and learners 

 Qualifications:

  • A degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
  • Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development
  • Experience of teaching learners with diverse language and learning needs in a range of settings (desirable)
  • 2-4 years’ experience
